Obamacare Fines up to $975 for Those Who Do Not Register Under the Affordable Care Act

Obamacare requires that most everyone have health insurance or pay a penalty - which is set for a steep increase. In 2014, under Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act, the maximum penalty for not registering for health insurance coverage is $975.

The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare requires most Americans to obtain some kind of health insurance coverage starting in 2014. It is designed to protect consumers from insurance company worst-practices – like denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions, capping total coverage, and dropping or watering down coverage when consumers get sick and need it most.

With the upcoming deadline for the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, a hotline has been established to help consumers better understand the many health care options. Call this number: 1-866-631-8308 or visit www.Obamacare24/get-help for more information.

Obamacare does allow Americans to go up to a maximum of 3 months without coverage, but fines will be issued from the IRS for not registering. The penalty will be withheld from federal income tax returns and the amount will be deducted from future refunds. There are however exemptions for certain groups including:

  • People who's insurance premiums exceed 8% of one's annual household income
  • Undocumented immigrants
  • Members of Indian tribes
  • The incarcerated.

The good news is that there is still time to register. Call this number: 1-866-631-8308 or visit Obamacare24/get-help or more Obamacare facts and health insurance options.

Obamacare Enrollment Deadline

The original Obamacare open enrollment period has been rescheduled for Nov. 15, 2014 - Jan. 15, 2015. Consumers looking for Obamacare, under the first year of the new rule, have until Jan. 15, 2015 -- when open enrollment on the new marketplace closes -- to get insured before a potential fine is issued.

Obamacare Cost:

The majority of people uninsured today can find a policy for $30 - $100 per month, taking into account subsidies and Medicaid eligibility. Some will carry higher deductibles and co-pays. Costs will also vary from one state to another, so resources and pricing schedules are available at Obamacare24.com

While some may pay up to $975 in penalties the first year, this is very avoidable and experts predict most people will sign up for insurance before the Jan. 15, 2015 deadline.
